Love your stuff.

I get calls all the time from people who want to move their stuff from one place to another. What’s that I hear you say? “Of course you do Murray, you run a small removals business in Edinburgh specializing in last minute removals weekend removals and evening removals”.  You are of course correct.

Here at Murray Moves we charge by the hour for removal jobs in town. It’s what we do and we’re very good at it. You’d be surprised at the amount of stuff that can be moved across Edinburgh in an hour if the client is organized and well packed. When a client contacts us for a job the more information they can give us about the job the better. It means that we can get a good idea of what’s involved before we turn up and can supply the right amount of men and the right equipment to do the job. Things like a rough inventory of what’s to be moved, access details of both properties,  addresses and postcodes all help to give us a better understanding of what we’re turning up to.

Some people are on a very tight budget when it comes to moving house. We can supply extra manpower to help you move  house in Edinburgh but we have to pay our guys an honest wage so if you want to save money on your move get organized. Pack everything into boxes and have it ready to go when the van arrives. Get as many friends to help you as possible and supply them with as much tea and biscuits as they need. If you are on the top floor you can save time and money by having all your stuff on the ground before the van arrives.

One thing to remember is the cheapest quote is not always the best quote. Would you be surprised to learn that we do a lot of last minute jobs for good people who have been let down by bad removals men who either don’t turn up at all or turn up, take a look at the job and then disappear? It happens more than you’d like to think. There are a lot of cowboys out there but there are a lot of good honest movers as well.

One last thing for today. One of the most common things I hear is ” oh I don’t have very much stuff…. just  7 small boxes and a couple of suitcases…”  and when we arrive it’s 21 boxes, 6 suitcases, a TV, a coffee table, a large lamp, 6 plants in pots, a couple of speakers, a single mattress, some black bags full of clothes and a laundry basket full of shoes. Just because you say you don’t have much stuff doesn’t mean you don’t have much stuff. Be honest to your possessions and acknowledge they exist. You have spent years collecting this stuff, you love your stuff and now you need to move it. Be as clear as possible about how much you have and we can give you the most honest quotes over the phone/text/email.
